Advanced Plastics, Inc. was founded in 1959 by H. D. (Bill) Willcutts, Jr., one of the first manufacturers of fiberglass bottom house boats in the United States. Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastics was in its infancy in the 1950s; Bill saw the possibilities that FRP afforded, particularly in marine applications. As business increased and the technology progressed, he saw an opportunity for a company to supply these products - and API was born. Advanced Plastics Incorporated, is a wholesale distributor of fiberglass reinforced plastics products, cast polymer products, thermoplastics and sign products/supplies headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee since 1959.
Advanced Plastics is supported by Branch locations in Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga, TN; St. Louis, MO; Birmingham and Elberta, AL; and New Orleans, LA Advanced Plastics, as a service to it’s customers, has been one of the few distributors to offer their customers a catalog of their products in both the cast polymer and fiberglass product lines. Advanced Plastics have taken these catalogs and made low-resolution versions available for on-line viewing. These catalogs are in Adobe .pdf format.
